CLOUDPips Sora Setup Guide

This guide explains Sora's on-chart display and every setting in the Inputs tab. If you're just getting started, the defaults are fine — adjust them once you understand the system better.

When Sora enters a trade

Sora checks for a signal each time a candle closes on its entry timeframe (M5 by default), and opens a trade only when every condition is met:

1. An enabled candlestick pattern appears (by default, Bullish Engulfing for buys and Bearish Engulfing for sells).
2. Supertrend on the entry timeframe points the same way as the signal.
3. Supertrend on every higher timeframe you've set (H1 and D1 by default) points the same way too.
4. ADX on the entry timeframe is above the minimum level (25 by default), meaning the market is trending enough.

Every trade opens with a stop loss and take profit attached. If any condition fails, Sora waits — so some days there are no trades at all. That's normal.

Control panel (top left)

Status shows what the bot is doing.

When the license check fails, the free version retries automatically every 10 minutes, and checks again each new day. Once it passes, the bot resumes on its own.

Risk per Trade — the risk per trade you've set (or the lot size, if you use a fixed lot).

Trend Filter (ADX) — whether the trend-strength filter is On or Off.

AUTO STOP TRADE — the % set for Profit Limit and Drawdown Limit, or Off.

MAX TRADES — the maximum number of buy / sell positions open at once, or Off.

ACCOUNT — the currency in brackets is USD or USC (Cent account), detected automatically.

• Balance / Equity — your balance, and account value including floating profit and loss.
• Net — Sora's total profit or loss on this chart (closed plus still open).
• Gain — Net as a % of the balance before Sora started trading.
• Drawdown — the largest drop in balance from Sora's closed trades.

Figures under ACCOUNT count only Sora's trades on this symbol (identified by the Magic Number). Trades you open yourself, or those from other EAs, aren't included — except Balance and Equity, which cover the whole account.

PAUSE BOT / START button

• Press PAUSE BOT to stop opening new trades. Open positions stay, with their SL/TP unchanged.
• While stopped, the button reads START — press it to resume. If the bot stopped because of Profit Limit or Drawdown Limit, START begins a new cycle, using your current balance as the starting point for the profit target.
• If the license check doesn't pass, the button shows DISABLED and can't be pressed.

CLOSE ALL POSITIONS button — closes all of Sora's positions on this symbol immediately at market price. The bot keeps running afterwards; press PAUSE BOT first if you don't want new trades.

Market Direction (top right)

This table shows the trend direction Sora uses to decide. It has 3 columns: timeframe, Supertrend direction, and ADX.

• Entry timeframe row(s) (e.g. M5) — shows UP / DOWN plus the ADX value, followed by OK (passes) or WEAK (trend too weak — no trade).
• Higher timeframe rows (e.g. H1, D1) — show FILTER in gold in the right column, meaning these timeframes act as direction filters.

Sora opens a buy only when every row is UP, and a sell only when every row is DOWN. For example, if M5 and H1 are UP but D1 is DOWN, Sora won't buy even if a candlestick signal appears.

If Sora hasn't opened a trade for hours or days, look here first. Usually the directions disagree, or ADX shows WEAK.

Money & Risk Management

Sora always rounds the lot down, so real risk never exceeds RiskPercent — with one exception: if the calculated lot is smaller than the broker's minimum lot, Sora uses the minimum lot, which means more risk than you set. That's why small accounts should use a Cent account.

A risk note worth reading: in Sora's backtest (XAUUSD M5, 2024–2026), the longest losing streak was 39 trades. A streak like that at 1% RiskPercent would cut your balance by about 32%; at 2%, by about 54%. Before raising your risk, ask yourself whether you could really sit through a drawdown like that. Order Identification

If you change the Magic Number, the figures under ACCOUNT and in the Withdrawal Simulator start from zero, because Sora can no longer see its earlier history. Running Sora on several charts in one account (different symbols) with the same number is fine — trades are already separated by symbol.

Stop Loss / Take Profit Settings (points)

Sora adjusts points to your broker's number of decimals automatically. For gold, 1,000 points is a price move of about $10, so the defaults set the TP at twice the SL.

Don't turn off the SL (setting Enable_FixedSLTP to false, or Fix_SL_Points to 0). Trades would have no stop loss, and lot sizing from RiskPercent would no longer work.

Equity Take Profit (Close All)

Unlike Profit Limit, Equity Take Profit closes positions and keeps trading — it doesn't stop the bot.

Supertrend System (per Timeframe)

The backtest results on this site use these defaults. Changing them can change results a lot — backtest the new settings yourself first.

Candlestick Entry Patterns (Price Action)

Candlestick patterns used as entry signals. Only 2 are on by default:

• DetectEngulfingBull = true — [BUY] Bullish Engulfing
• DetectEngulfingBear = true — [SELL] Bearish Engulfing

All other patterns are off (false) and can be turned on:

• [BUY] Hammer, Inverted Hammer, Marubozu Up, Tweezer Bottom, Bullish Harami, Morning Star, Three Outside Up, Three Inside Up, Three White Soldiers, Bullish 3-Line Strike
• [SELL] Hanging Man, Shooting Star, Marubozu Down, Tweezer Top, Bearish Harami, Evening Star, Three Outside Down, Three Inside Down, Three Black Crows, Bearish Three Line Strike

More patterns mean more signals, but those results haven't been tested the way the defaults have. If every pattern is off, Sora won't open any trades.

Automatic Stop System (Auto Stop)

When either limit is reached, Sora closes all its positions and stops. The status shows HIT PROFIT or DD STOPPED until you press START.

We recommend turning on Drawdown Limit at a level you can genuinely live with, as a last safety net.

Entry Distance Filter

Changing settings while running

1. Double-click the EA's name in the top-right corner of the chart (or press F7).
2. Edit the values in the Inputs tab → OK.

Sora remembers its state (e.g. PAUSED or HIT PROFIT) when you change settings, switch timeframe, or restart MT5. The state resets only when you remove Sora from the chart. Open positions stay open with their SL/TP in every case.
