How to Use the Withdrawal Simulator
The Withdrawal Simulator answers one question: "If I withdrew profit regularly by a set rule, how much should I have taken out by now — and how much is still waiting?" The box appears in the bottom-right corner of the chart on EAs that include it, such as CLOUDPips Sora.
Understand this first
The simulator doesn't withdraw any real money. It only calculates and displays figures — all your funds stay in your account. Real withdrawals are always made by you, through your broker's website or app. We have no access to your account and can't withdraw from it.
Why it's there
If you leave all your profit in the account, an EA that sizes lots from a % of your balance keeps opening bigger and bigger lots — and everything you've earned stays exposed to the market. Withdrawing regularly locks in profit you've already made. The simulator helps you stay disciplined by telling you exactly how much to take out.
Reading the Withdrawal Simulator box
The line under the title shows the rule in use, e.g. 50% of each profitable day — meaning it simulates withdrawing 50% of the profit from every day that ended in profit.
| Line | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Earned | Running total you "should" withdraw by the rule: each profitable day's profit × your % |
| Banked | Total you've actually withdrawn from the account |
| To Bank | What's still waiting (Earned − Banked). Shown in blue when there's an amount waiting; never below zero. |
Figures are in your account currency. On a Cent account the unit is USC (cents) — divide by 100 to get dollars. For example, 29,709.95 USC is about $297.10.
Example: set to 50%. This week Sora made $40 on Monday, lost $25 on Tuesday and made $60 on Wednesday.
- Earned = ($40 + $60) × 50% = $50 (Tuesday's loss isn't counted)
- If you've withdrawn $30 so far → Banked = $30
- To Bank = $50 − $30 = $20
Calculation details worth knowing
- Earned counts only profitable days. Losing days aren't subtracted, so after several losing days Earned can be higher than the account's real net profit. Before withdrawing what To Bank shows, always check your balance — never withdraw below the recommended minimum deposit.
- Earned counts only that EA's trades on that symbol (identified by the Magic Number). Trades you open yourself aren't included.
- Banked counts every withdrawal from the whole account, including ones unrelated to the EA. If you run several EAs in one account, this figure includes all of them.
- A "day" follows your time zone, set in
Local_GMT_Offset(Thailand = 7), not the broker's server time. - It counts from the first trade in the account history and doesn't reset on its own. Changing the Magic Number starts Earned from zero.
How to set it up
In the EA's Inputs tab, under Daily Profit Withdrawal Simulation:
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Enable_WithdrawSim |
true | Show or hide the Withdrawal Simulator box |
Withdraw_Profit_Pct |
50.0 | % of each profitable day's profit to simulate withdrawing (0–100) |
A high % takes more out: the account grows more slowly but more profit is locked in. A low % lets the account compound more, but leaves more profit exposed to the market. There's no number that's right for everyone.
Using it with backtests
The Withdrawal Simulator box appears in the Strategy Tester only in Visualization mode. To see the figures during a test, tick Visual mode before pressing Start. See How to Backtest in MetaTrader 5.
Withdrawing for real
When you see an amount under To Bank, withdraw it through your broker. Afterwards, Banked goes up and To Bank goes down on their own. Good to know:
- Keep your remaining balance at or above the minimum deposit recommended on the strategy page.
- After a withdrawal, an EA that sizes lots by % risk adjusts to the new balance on its own — no need to change settings.
