Strategies Info
CLOUDPips Hoshi is a ready-made trading robot for gold (XAUUSD) on standard and cent accounts. It combines the two strategies of CLOUDPips — the breakout of Kumo and the trend following of Sora — into 5 entries in one bot. Every setting is pre-tuned. Attach it to an XAUUSD chart (D1 recommended), load a preset, and let it run.
Sora and Kumo are for traders who like to fine-tune. Hoshi is for traders who want the edge of both without configuring anything.

What's New — Version 1.1
- Withdrawal Simulator: new "Withdrawal rule" setting. Choose how the simulated withdrawals are counted.
- Each profitable day (default): works exactly as before.
- Only when the balance makes a new high: a share of profit is counted only when your balance reaches a new high. Losses are earned back first, so the simulated withdrawals never eat into your capital.
- The withdrawal percentage (50% by default) works with both rules.
- Trading logic and presets are unchanged. Backtest results are the same as version 1.0.
How it works
- Kumo Breakout (3 entries): waits for price to break out of its recent structure and follows the move with a trailing stop. There is no fixed take profit, so a few big trends make most of the profit.
- Trades breakouts on three different time horizons, from short swings to multi-day moves.
- A trade in profit can add one extra position.
- Sora Trend (2 entries): trades only in the direction of the higher-timeframe trend. Stop loss and take profit adapt to market conditions. Part of the profit is taken early, the stop moves to break-even, and the rest is trailed.
- Joins an established higher-timeframe trend on a pullback or a momentum signal.
- Kaze (wind) filter, on by default: before every entry, the market must be at least as active as normal for that time of day. Breakouts and trend entries in a quiet market are often false. Our research found the trades Kaze skips are losing trades as a group.
- Lot size: calculated from a % of your balance for every trade.
Each entry has its own magic number, so your history shows which entry opened each trade. Any entry can be switched off in the inputs.
Expect a win rate of around 40%, but the winners are on average about 2.2 times the size of the losers (+1.85% vs −0.83% of the balance in the 2003–2026 Default.set backtest). At that ratio, winning about 31% of trades breaks even, so the bot survives losing more often than it wins. Most trades are small wins or small losses, and the profit comes from the big trends.
Risk controls
- Hard stop loss on every trade
- Risk-based lot size with margin and volume checks
- Kaze filter (on by default)
- Optional: equity take profit (close all), profit-target stop, emergency drawdown cut, daily SL / TP hit limits, maximum Buy / Sell trades, minimum distance between trades
Important: several trades can be open at once. Hoshi's 5 entries can hold positions at the same time. RiskPercent is the risk of each trade, so the total risk can be several times that number. This is why Hoshi's drawdown is higher than a single-strategy bot's at the same risk setting.
Features
- Real-time dashboard:
- Kaze (wind) level
- Preset in use (Default / Aggressive / Custom) and risk per trade
- Balance, equity, floating P/L, gain and max drawdown
- Pause and Close All buttons (Pause is remembered after a restart)
- Market structure panel across several timeframes
- Clear log in the Experts tab: every skipped signal is printed with the reason
- Daily profit withdrawal simulator
- Daily statistics follow your broker's server time
- Magic numbers separate from Sora and Kumo
- Works on hedging and netting accounts, and on a VPS
Recommended settings
- Symbol: XAUUSD (tested on gold only).
- Chart timeframe: any. We recommend D1: the chart loads fastest and uses the least memory. The bot reads the timeframes it needs internally, so the chart timeframe does not change its trades.
- Minimum balance: 1,000 USD on a standard account, or 10,000 USC on a cent account.
- Presets:
- Default: RiskPercent = 1.0.
- Aggressive: RiskPercent = 2.0.
- Load either one as a .set file, and leave all other inputs at their defaults.
- Aggressive risk: the equity drawdown reached about 72% over 23 years. Use it only with money you can afford to lose.
- Do not run Hoshi with CLOUDPips Kumo on the same account: Hoshi already contains Kumo's main breakout entry.
- Running several CLOUDPips bots or symbols on one account? Lower RiskPercent to 0.5 on each.
- Small balances: the broker's minimum lot can mean more risk than the % you set.
- VPS: recommended, so the trailing stops keep updating.
Who it is for
- Traders who want a ready-made gold system with no settings to tune
- Traders who want more frequent trades than Sora or Kumo
- Not for anyone expecting guaranteed returns or trading money they cannot afford to lose

- Realistic spread: every trade is costed with a realistic 24-pip (0.24 USD) spread, the typical spread of a standard account. Many backtests use a much lower spread; ours does not.
- Frequency: about 2.5 trades per week on average.
- The 23-year figures: they compound for 23 years, so they are not a realistic expectation. Lot sizes grow with the balance until they reach the broker's limits. Look at the profit factor, the drawdown and the 2024–2026 test instead.
- Losing years: Hoshi has them too. On the Default preset: 2003 (−9.8%), 2004 (−21.2%), 2005 (−14.0%), 2014 (−0.2%), 2021 (−1.1%), 2022 (−27.7%).
- Best years: 2025 (+220.0%), 2020 (+174.1%) and 2016 (+165.9%).
- 2024–2026: the strongest stretch in the 23 years (a strong gold trend). Do not expect every period to look like it.
- Your results will differ: they depend on your broker's spread, swap, execution and the tick data your tester uses.
Past performance does not guarantee future results. Results depend on your broker's spread, swap and execution.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is Hoshi different from Kumo and Sora?
Hoshi puts the breakout of Kumo and the trend following of Sora into 5 entries in one bot, with every setting pre-tuned.
- Kumo and Sora are for traders who like to fine-tune
- Hoshi is for traders who want a ready-made bot with nothing to tune, and more frequent trades (about 2.5 a week)
Renting Hoshi costs less than renting Kumo and Sora separately.
See all three side by side: Compare strategies.
Can I run Hoshi with Kumo on the same account?
We advise against it. Kumo's H4 breakout entry is already inside Hoshi, so running both opens the same trades twice and doubles the risk.
If you run Hoshi with another CLOUDPips bot, or on several symbols, on one account (a Hedging account), lower RiskPercent to 0.5% on each. Details: Can I run two bots on the same account?
Why is Hoshi's drawdown higher than the other bots'?
Hoshi's 5 entries can hold trades at the same time. RiskPercent is the risk of each trade, so the total risk can be several times that number.
From the 2003–2026 backtests:
- Default 1%: equity fell by up to 50.41% at its worst
- Aggressive 2%: equity fell by up to 71.82% at its worst — use it only with money you can afford to lose
If that is more than you can accept, lower RiskPercent, for example to 0.5%.
Does Hoshi make money every month?
No. Most trades end as small losses or small wins, the profit comes from the big trends, and losing stretches happen.
From the 2003–2026 backtest of Default.set (1% risk per trade):
- Equity fell by up to 50.41% at its worst
- About 40% of trades were winners: an average win was +1.85% of the balance and an average loss −0.83%
No trading system can guarantee profit, and past results are not a forecast. Only trade with money you can afford to lose. See the Risk Warning.
How far can I trust the backtests?
Default.set and Aggressive.set were tested in the MT5 Strategy Tester on real tick data (100% history quality) over 2003–2026 (about 23 years) and 2024–2026, with Kaze on.
The 23-year figures compound for 23 years: lot sizes grow with the balance until they reach the broker's limits, so they are not a realistic expectation. Look at the profit factor, the drawdown and the 2024–2026 test instead.
Limits to keep in mind: a backtest can't fully reproduce live conditions such as spreads widening around news, slippage or lost connections, so live results vary by broker and spread. How to read the numbers: Reading Backtest Numbers.
How many accounts can one license run? Can I move it?
One license runs one MT5 account at a time. To run two accounts at once you need two licenses. If you start the EA on a second account while the first is still running, the second shows IN USE.
You can move it as often as you like — another account, broker or VPS:
- Usually: remove the EA from the old account's chart; the key frees up at once. Then attach the EA on the new account.
- Can't reach the old computer: press Deactivate on that license in My licenses, then press CHECK LICENSE on the EA's panel on the new account.
- VPS down or offline: after 30 minutes the key is released automatically.
Close trades on the old account before moving — trades left open there won't be managed. Details: Move to another account or VPS.
Can I get a refund?
Payments are final, because the license works the moment you pay. That's why you can backtest the full bot for free first (see Can I try it before I pay?).
The exception: if you were charged twice for one order, email support@cloudpips.io with your 12-digit order number and proof of payment, and we return the duplicate charge. See the refund policy.
