Install MetaTrader 5

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is the trading platform our EAs run on. It's free to install.

Where to download it

We recommend downloading MT5 from your broker's website. It comes with your broker's servers already set up, which makes logging in easier.

You can also download the generic version from https://www.metatrader5.com and search for your broker's server when you log in.

Operating systems

• Windows: fully supported, and our recommendation.
• Mac: MT5 for Mac is available.
• Mobile (iOS / Android): good for checking your account and following results, but it can't run EAs. EAs only run on desktop MT5 or a VPS.

Install on Windows

1. Open the installer you downloaded and click Next through the steps.
2. When installation finishes, MT5 opens automatically.

Log in to your trading account

1. Go to File → Login to Trade Account.
2. Enter your Login (account number) and Password (trading password), and pick the Server your broker gave you.
3. Tick Save password so MT5 logs in automatically next time.
4. Click OK.

Once you're logged in, your balance appears in the Trade tab at the bottom, and the bottom-right corner shows your connection speed (e.g. 45 ms). If it says "No connection" or "Invalid account", double-check the server name and password.

Open a chart for the symbol you'll trade

1. Open the Market Watch window (Ctrl + M).
2. Find the symbol your strategy uses (see the strategy page). The name may carry a suffix that differs by broker and account type — gold, for example, might be XAUUSD, XAUUSDm or XAUUSDc. If it's not in the list, right-click → Symbols and search for it.
3. Right-click the symbol → Chart Window.
